My Sister Jodie is a really sad book. Its main character is Jodie and her sister Pearl. Pearl is quite and doesn't like talking much while Jodie is stood out and always getting into trouble. But there is one thing Jodie love more then being bad and that's her sister Pearl, no matter what trouble Pearl gets in to Jodie will always be by her side.
When Jodie and Pearl's parent got a job as a caretaker and a cook at a old boarding school, the girls find themselves having to move there and spending their precious summer holiday in the school with a few children and some staff members. But when school started things started to change, Jodie has always been the leader but now it Pearl who is making new friends. Jodie doesn't fit in with any of the snotty kid at school and seems to get in more and more trouble each day.
Soon they discover on top of the girls bunk there is a tower but nobody was allowed there, anxious and scared they both went up the stairs soon Pearl got scared and wanted to get down but Jodie didn't so she went up by herself. Pearl was really worried but she soon saw her sister coming down. Jodie talks about how it looks so cool up the tower and they should go back but Pearl was afraid since a accident has been cause up there.
On firework night Jodie decided to scare everyone by attaching a white piece of cloth on the tower. It scared all the little kids as they started screaming and crying. Jodie knew this isn't nice so she leaned over the window and try to tell the kid that its only her playing a trick on everyone, she leaned forward and forward intill she wobbled on her crazy red high heel shoes and then she fell. Screaming in a high pitch voice intill she fell on the lawn with a terrible thud, head hung back, arms and legs spread open while another firework shoot up the sky and burst in to sparks.
The story ends with Jodie's sad funeral, everyone crying and the whole school singing prays. But the most hurt was Pearl. She couldn't believe this had happened to her sister and will never forget the sight when Jodie fell of the tower. After the funeral the family move, they couldn't stay at the school were they lost Jodie. A few years later Pearl's Mum and Dad had a baby girl called May. It was Pearls turn to be the big sister but she wasn't sure if she can be a good big sister like Jodie.
