Anzac Day

Anzac Day in New Zealand is held on April the 25th every year to remember the New Zealanders that were killed in the war in Gallipoli.

In Australia they remember Anzac day the same way we do here in New Zealand. Anzac stands for Australia New Zealand Army Corps.

The First World War began in the summer of 1914 and finished in November 1918 in Gallipoli. There were 2,721 men/women who died in the First World War from New Zealand.

For Anzac day, you can buy a poppy to remember all the men and women who lost their lives in the First World War. They fought for us for freedom in Gallipoli.

You can buy a poppy at the mall, through schools or other outlets. The money that is raised goes to the R.S.A which is the Return Services Association.
